Since taking office in 2019, I have focused on making Maryland more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable. Please see my 2026 end-of-session summary and 2025 end-of-session summary

Over 30 of my sponsored bills have become law. Among them are bills passed that led to:

  • Maryland’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program
  • Millions of dollars to support clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and innovation industries
  • A state-designated green bank to fund clean energy projects and clean energy innovation
  • The Governor’s Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs
  • Worker cooperatives being recognized as a form of LLC in Maryland
  • Reform of Maryland’s EmPower energy efficiency program to include greenhouse gas reduction goals
  • Strengthening cybersecurity standards for public utilities
  • A rooftop solar incentive program for low- and moderate-income communities
  • Data privacy and consumer protection in genetic testing
  • Transparency of homecare workers’ pay and classification by Medicaid funded providers

I have also been advocating for open primary elections to make it more equitable and accessible to independent voters who are far more diverse than party voters on both sides. For more details of my legislative work, please see below section on “Bills Passed.”
